Today in West Caring, we had 21 members attend.
We watched a short video and spoke about LGBT+ representation in the media. Members spoke about the fact that sometimes LGBT+ characters are non-existent and/or misrepresented. We spoke about the lack of individuals of color being shown, many facets of gender/sexuality not being shown, and LGBT+ individuals being used as a joke or shocking plot line as opposed to it being a normal thing. Positive (or even just neutral and existent) representation matters.
